Commodore Anthony E. Oguguo, Military Governor of Imo State was in office August 1990 – January 1992. Navy Commodore Anthony Emeluwa Oguguo was appointed Military Governor of Imo State during the Military Regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. During his administration, Imo State Airport for operations. His very famous statement “I saw money and looked away, it is not everything; we can all do the same and teach it to our children”. His administration took a stronghold with Trade Unions. In 1991, he demanded a list of absentee workers who were asking for minimum wage of N380. As a Governor, he commissioned the 100 bedded Osina Community Hospital, in 1990.
He was a member of the Provisional Ruling Council (PRC) and was involved in the transition to democracy during the short-lived Nigerian 3rd republic. He maintained peace and order in the state. He was a member of the creation of Enugu State. In August 2002, he was an aspirant to be a Governorship Candidate for Enugu State for All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP).
