Sunday Ajibade Adehihun, Military Governor of Imo State was in office 25 July, 1978 – 30 September 1979. Born 12 March 1940, at Ikirun Osun State and died 25 November 2008 (aged 68). Sunday Ajibade Adehihun was appointed Military Governor of Imo State from July 1978 to October 1979 during General Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration. In October 1979, Adenihun handed over to the administration of the first Civilian Governor of Imo State in Nigerian Second Republic. He brought SULO into Owerri. This revolutionalised refuse collection and disposal in the state capital. It is on record that he started the new Parliament Building, New Governor’s Lodge, Deputy Governpor’s Lodge, Chief Judge’s Quarters for Parliamentarians and Commissioners. Late Col. Adenihun built the first street lights in Owerri. In October 1st 1979, he handed over to Chief Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe.
His administration was known for maintain peace and order in the state. He died of a heart attack in the United States on 25 November 2008.
